Advocates, Seniors, Small businesses and Students call on Senate to pass Wall Street Reform
Wall Street reform legislation has already passed in the House and is readied for Senate floor action. Advocates from New Jersey Public Interest Research Group, New Jersey Citizen Action, AARP-NJ and the Main Street Alliance will recognize Senator Menendez for his longstanding leadership on consumer financial protections and urge him to continue in his lead role fighting for the strongest Wall Street reform legislation as it moves on the Senate floor. Seniors, small business owners and students will tell personal stories of how the Wall Street collapse has affected them, putting real, live faces on the national economic disaster triggered by the greed and recklessness of Wall Street Banks.

Representatives of senior, small business and student groups
The House of Representatives voted for comprehensive Wall Street reform last December, including the establishment of a Consumer Financial Protection Agency. Senator Menendez has been integral to moving similarly strong legislation to the Senate floor, but many of his colleagues, under pressure from a phalanx of bank lobbyists, are actively delaying and obstructing its passage. This press conference will showcase the reform concerns of a variety of citizens and groups representing thousands of state constituencies. Floor action is expected to be completed before Memorial Day.
